Fernando Galván is Professor of English Literature at the University of Alcalá since 1994, where he was Rector (2010-2018). He has a distinguished teaching and research career in English fiction, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, literary translation, as well as comparative literary and cultural studies. In 1996-2002 he chaired the Spanish Association for Anglo-American Studies (AEDEAN), and during 2007-2013 he was President of the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE). In 2018 he was appointed honorary OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to UK-Spain educational ties. He has published extensively on contemporary British and postcolonial fiction, including many authors of historical and biographical novels.
